Sambar with coconut milk | Quick and easy Sambar recipes | South Indian Popular hot ans spicy lentil soup



Hi guys.hope u all doing wellsenyumkenyit.now about the recipe.sambar with coconut milk.rindu Yes it does n`t need any vegetables except tomato..yes.usually most of the people will add coconut powder.jelirbut i changed it for a variation.it tastes superb when seved with hot steaming white rice.sengihnampakgigiif u like too spicy foods like me iam sure you guys will like this..kenyitcheck once and let me know your feelingssenyum..



Ingredients

Toor dal/tuvar dal/kandi pappu-1/2 cup
tomato-2 big
coconut milk-100 ml /1.2 cup
tamarind paste(i used)-2tsps (or)small goose berry sized
red chilli powder-1 tsp
green chillies-3
salt-to taste
sambhar powder-1 1/2 tsp
black pepper powder-1 tsp
turmeric powder-1 tsp
ginger garlic paste(GGP)-1 tsp

TO TEMPER

Oil-2 tbsps
mustard seeds-1 tsp
cumin seeds-1 tsp
curry leaves -10
dry red chillies -3
hing(asafoetida)-1/4 tsp


Preparation

1.wash dal twise and soak in water for 20 minutes.pressure cook dal for 3whistles,using potato masher mash it coarsely and keep aside.

2.chop tomato and grind it into puree.chop the chillies.

3.add 1 cup(adjust as you wish) of water in the tamarind paste.

4.now heat a kadai with oil and add the tempering items in order wise.

5.when it splutters add toor dal and tomato paste,coconut milk,GGP,salt,chilli,sambhar and pepper powders,chopped green chillies and finally tamarind water.it should be in thin consistency.so,adjust the water level.

6.let it boil for 8-10mints in the low flame.you can observe the nice aroma.

7.before taking it into a serving bowl garnish with coriander leaves....

8.serve with hot white rice along with potato fry..
