CABBAGE KOOTU/CABBAGE IN COCONUT DAL GRAVY | South indian cabbage recipes



Today iam posting cabbage Kootu...many of the people avoids cabbage but if you change the cooking method iam sure that people will love to eat...My self,I like cabbage very much and often tries different curry recipes every time..
In a telugu cook book  I got this recipe and tried it immediately..The coconut masala which we add in the kootu gives a nice flavor and taste to this kootu..Specially,pepper corns gives a strong hot ness which tastes so good.. This kootu goes well with hot steaming rice..Try it next time and share your results..

Ingredients


shredded cabbage-2 cups
moong dal/pesara pappu-1/2 cup
turmeric powder-1/2 tsp

TO GRIND 
fresh coconut (powder)-1/2 cup
coriander seeds/dhaniya -1 tsp
cumin seeds / jeera -1 tsp
pepper corns/miriyalu  -1 tsp
green chillies - 4

FOR TADKA/TO TEMPER

ghee-1 tbsp
mustard seeds -1 tsp
curry leaves-1 sprig
urad dal-1 tsp
chana dal-1/2 tsp
Preparation
take dal and cabbage with turmeric in a pressure cooker and cook for 2 whistles..after 1st whistle simmer the flame into medium......After turning off the flame,let the air goes out completely....
now grind the ingredients under which gives under TO GRIND and add in cooked cabbage-dal.....Mix and cook for 5 minutes in medium flame,then turn off.Mean while,prepare the tadka/temper with tempering items in the ghee and add in cabbage- dal.....
serve with rice.........
