This is my favourite raita....i got this from a very old news paper.....This is a delicious raita which goes well with simple pulao or biryani recipes.Instead of regular upma you can try this new variety for a change..... I hope you guys will like this..here it is ...


vermicelli/semiya-1 cup
thick curd-1 cup
water-3 cups(for boil)
boiled milk-1/2 cup
salt-to taste
grated carrot-1/2 cup
grated cucumber-1/2 cup
ginger-small piece
green chillies-4
cilantro leaves-handful


curry leaves-1 sprig
mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
dry red chilli-1
ghee-1 tbsp


dry fry the vermicelli and add to the boiled water.....when it is cooked/turns soft remove water and add some cold water to semiya to avoid sticking..Drain n keep it aside..

mix the boiled milk in curd..add in grated carrot and cucumber too.crush the ginger and green chillies and to the curd.

add vermicelli and salt to the curd...now in a kadai/pan heat ghee add all the ingredients one by one which given under tadka,saute for few seconds and add this to the curd
garnish with cilantro and keep it in the fridge for some time....

You can serve with rice /pulao/biryani. tastes good when serve chilled.........
