RIDGE GOURD DAL WITH MILK | beerakaya pesara pappu koora


It is a simple yet tasty curry with ridge gourd with addition of moong dal and milk.Yes..It`s a curry with milk..This is one of the famous curry in andhra..Amma cooks this dish often which is our family favorite.Try this curry and serve hot with rice..It`s healthy and nice too.
Ingredients
ridge gourd-2 small size
moong dal/pesara pappu-1/2 cup
onions-1 small
chilli powder-2 tsps
ginger garlic paste/GGP-1 tsp
turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
green chilli-1
salt-to taste
oil-2 tbsps
cumin-1 tsp
milk-1/2 cup

Preparation
peel the skin of ridge gourd and chop into medium size pieces...
soak moong dal for 15minutes...chop the onions .
heat a kadai with oil add in cumin after it crackles add in GGP,chopped chilli and fry this for 30 secs...
add in onions and fry for 1/2 minute...
now add in chopped ridge gourd pieces,turmeric and salt and cook this for 5 minutes...
when the ridge gourd pieces turns lightly soft add in soaked dal,chilli powder and mix well..
cook this for 5 minutes........ now add in milk and mix it.cook this 3 more minutes..
after the curry cooked well or turns completely soft off the flame and serve....
