SORREL LEAVES CHICKEN/GONGURA CHICKEN



This is the first i tried chicken with Gongura..........I got this from a news paper...This is one of the tasty and tangy chicken which you can make often...Iam not at all confident about taste while making this.......But fortunately it was came out simply good.....and my hus liked it allot..I served it in the lunch..here goes the recipe.....

Ingredients

Chicken-1/2kg
sorrel leaves-200gms
green chilli-5-6
onion-1big
ginger garlic paste(GGP)-2tsps
salt-to taste
chilli powder-2tsps

TO TEMPER

oil-3tsps
cloves-3
cardamom-3
bay leaf-2
cinnamon stick-1"
curry leaves-1 sprig
cilantro/kotti meera-1 bunch

Preparation

Wash and Mix the chicken with 1tsp GGP and salt.......pressure cook for 3 whistles or til cooked soft.

Now heat a kadai with oil and add in tempering INGS one by one......

Add in 1tspGGP,chopped green chillis,curry leaves and finely chopped onion fry til the onion turns in red colour.....

Now add in chilli powder,turmeric,sorrel leaves...mix well and cook for 2 mints....

Add in Cooked chicken and little water,salt(if need ) and cook for 5 more minutes.......

Garnish with cilantro and serve hot with rice/rotis........


I served with hot rice.........
