LAYERED CAKE/NUMBER ONE CAKE/BIRTHDAY CAKE/1ST BIRTHDAY CAKE/BASICS TO KNOW ABOUT DECORATING





A big HI and HELLO to every one...Iam feeling like its a very long gap...YES..iam quite busy with my kids as usual......And i know iam neglecting blogging nowadays lot.....But i won`t say iam wasting the time.Iam caring the kids and at the same time enjoying each and every minute with my lovely kids.....My little son started walking and every time he is trying to come near where iam..He is not giving even an hour to blog or post anything...But Iam really enjoying the every second with my teddies.......Are n` t these beautiful and memorable moments for a mom?.....

O.K K K K..... Will stop personal stories and coming to the lovely cake recipe which i prepared for my son..

I just baked simple cakes means basic vanilla cake and chocolate cake and sliced into two and again with frosting i formed those into a layered cake......I was very busy while doing the cake,,So, i did n`t took whole pics..So,please excuse for that.....

Basic vanilla cake

Ingredients

All purpose flour-2 1/2cups
sugar-1cup
eggs-2
baking powder-1tsp
baking soda-1/2tsp
oil-1/2cup
vanilla essence-2tsps
milk-1/2cup

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 180c..Apply oil or butter and sprinkle 2tsps of flour all over the tin and keep aside.......

Now soft flour,baking powder and soda....

Break eggs and mix sugar,oil,milk and mix vanilla too......

combined the dry ingredients with wet ingredients and mix til smooth....


Tip this into the tin and bake for 35-40 minutes...(Mine took 40 minutes).......

Check the cake by inserting a tooth pick and cool it on a wire rack for some time........


CHOCOLATE CAKE RECIPE

All purpose flour/maida-2 1/2cups
sugar-1cup
cocoa powder-3/4cup
baking powder-1tsp
baking soda-1tsp
salt-1/2tsp
eggs-3(can use 2)
milk-1/2cup
oil-1cup
vanilla essence-1tsp

Preparation

Preheat oven to 180c.....to a baking tray apply butter and dust with some flour..

Mix all dry and wet ingredients separately....

Now combine both dry and wet ingredients and pour into the prepared tray....

bake til the cake cooked completely and check it out with a sharp knife..

wait for some time to use/decorate........

VANILLA BUTTER CREAM FROSTING

Butter-2cups/400gms
sugar-7-8cups
vanilla-4tsps
milk-1/2cup

Preparation

beat butter til smooth add in half of the sugar and 2tsps of vanilla beat til soft.mix in between milk a tsp wise....approx-half milk

now add remaining sugar and vanilla beat,beat continue til fluffy.add remaining milk too....beat once again.it should be creamy.........i used my hand for this process..(its pained u know).......


Assembling the cake

Cut the vanilla cake into two slices......

Cut the chocolate cake in round shape same like vanilla cake....(I measured the vanilla cake tin with a paper and used it for slice the chocolate cake )

Now its time to assembling the cake................

1.Take a plate or any cake board apply some frosting......

2.First put the vanilla cake and add butter cream.level it with a spatula or a big knife......

3.place the chocolate cake on top and add some more butte cream and spread it evenly....

4.Again place the another vanilla cake cover with butter cream completely..

5.This was the 1st birthday of my son..So, I chopped the remaining chocolate cake into 1 shaped.....(sorry i forgot to took pic)

(Take a thick paper and cut into 1 shape and put this on top of the cake and cut into equal shape..)

6.Tip this on top of the layered cake and cover it with butter cream.......

7. I used dulce de leche to decorate...Fill the piping bag with frosting or dulce de leche and decorate as per your choice.....

8.Use Sprinkles to make the cake more beautiful......


IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER WHILE DECORATING A CAKE-

First of all don`t compromise to use ingredients as they need..I mean use each and every one in exact quantity.......

Sift the dry ingredients well.......it gives a good result..

Its better to use butter paper in the tins......Because its very easy to remove the cakes.......

One more imp thing-cool the cake on a wire rack.....I don`t have any rack...I used a plate..so,after some time the cake was sticked to the plate...i was so sad..

Use sifted icing sugar only...If any particles are there it will struck in the piping bag..

Prepare every thing before you going to decorate cake..like a big knife,paper cuttings,butter cream,sprinkles etc..

Trimming the cake is an one more imp thing to know..YES..I did n`t trimmed the chocolate cake..So,when applying the butte cream particles of cake mixed with frosting and its damaged the frosting of my cake..I mean I planned to decorate it completely in plain n white frosting..U can observe Cake....

Decide first where you want to assemble the cake......I was confused in this stage...What i was shown in the photo was not used exactly....I changed it into a plate..Because its easy to frost the cake..

For frosting use room temp butter only..its very imp.......

If you love more sweet can use lots of icing sugar in the frosting..If not use exact quantity and use less frosting while layering the cakes...

My H was shocked when he tasted the cake..It was so sweet.......But i loved it...Even the birthday also liked the cake......He is just 1....But loves sweets n cakes....Ohhhhh...iam so happy..love u dear..okkkkk stopping here......

Can prepare frosting before a day..You can freeze the butter cream for atleast 1month..I done this step..
