HOME MADE COTTAGE CHEESE VERMICELLI KHEER/PANEER SEMIYA PAYASAM/EASY FESTIVAL RECIPES/EASY SWEET RECIPES


Vermicelli is a common ingredient which you can see any time in my cup board..But,we couple was bored with regular upma,and payasam. And one day while boiling milk it started curdling,So, I added lemon juice little bit and separated whey from cheese. Suddenly I remembered vermicelli which was already roasted and by mixing those two I made this payasam.
Believe me! It`s worked out very well and tasted rich with crumbled paneer.  The recipe is so simple and its same like our semiya payasam process except the adding of paneer. Next time for a change add some paneer to your semiya payasam like this and share your comments. I know definitely you will love it.

WHAT YOU NEED
Milk-3 cups
roasted semiya/vermicell- 1/2 cup
fresh paneer grated/crumbled-1/4 cup ( or 1/2 cup)
cardamom powder-1-2 teaspoon
cashews/almonds/raisins-5+5+5
ghee-2 tablespoons

HOW TO COOK
Heat ghee in non stick pan and roast nuts and raisins..remove and keep them in a plate..
Add milk to the  same pan and start boiling.Once the milk starts boiling add in sugar and mix..
Keep flame in low and add semiya and cook for 5-6 minutes or til it turns slightly soft.
Then add paneer and mix well..Cook for 5 more in medium flame and turn off.
Add finally dry fruits and serve hot or cold.
MAHAS NOTES
I used roasted semiya.If you don`t have readily then after nuts,roast semiya in the same pan.
After adding paneer no need to cook for a long time.
Replace paneer with ricotta cheese.I think It`s works out well too.
Next day while thinking about this recipe I felt that roasting paneer in ghee also may gives rich taste.
