HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERY ONE 

These are chocolate ovaltine cookies. Ovaltine is a milk flavoring product which made with malt extract,sugar and whey.Also you can find chocolate flavors.Horlicks is the name of a company and of a  malted milk hot drink and its not a dry blend of malt extract and milk powders.The only difference is sugar quantity .
Why I named as horlicks cookies, is Ovaltine which I bought here in chinese shop,tastes same like our indian horlicks.Yes.I don`t know about other brands ovaltine and I always like to purchase only this bottle..They also providing plain light cream colour  powder version which tastes same like Indian horlicks (traditional powder)  and newly started marketing this chocolate flavor.Even I observed some packets/bottles with the same name here in super markets but they tastes like cocoa powder or like toddy.So,what I want to explain is,here may be the name is different,but you can replace ovaltine with  horlicks brand.no doubt.Also you can try this cookies with horlicks light or traditional or light chocolate.  Check here for more Information about ovaltine and horlicks.


CATEGORY-BAKING/COOKIES/EGG FREE CHOCOLATE COOKIES
PREPARATION TIME- 20 MINUTES
BAKING TIME- 35 MINUTES


WHAT YOU NEED

Wheat flour-2 1/2 cups

ground oats-1 cup
white sugar-3/4 cup
butter melted-200 grams
baking soda-1/2 tsp
baking powder-2 tsp
chocolate ovaltine(horlicks)-1 1/2 cup
milk-1/3 cup



HOW TO COOK

Take a big wide bowl and add wheat flour,oats powder,horlicks,sugar,baking powder,soda..Mix well all with spatula.

To this add melted butter and milk..Knead it like dough and if it looks too wet add 2-3 tbsp of extra  wheat flour.But,Iam sure you don`t need it.


Now place this dough in butter paper and close from all sides and freeze for 30-40 minutes at least.


Pre heat oven at 180 degree C.Line a parchment paper in baking tray..


Now take out freezed dough and rest it for 10 minutes in room temp.Then divide into equal size balls and shape them well .


Arrange cookies dough balls on tray with 2 inches distance and start press them on top slightly..


Place tray in oven and bake for 35 minutes exactly..In between after 15 minutes revert cookies and bake.


Check cookies hard or not, and turn off flame after 5 minutes...


Leave tray inside for few more minutes and remove out n place cookies on wire rack...

MAHAS NOTES

Because of butter parchment  paper turns completely wet/buttery..Don`t panic..

Increase oats powder to 2 cups and decrease wheat flour to 2 cups

Always add wet ingredients after dry INGS..

Freezing dough is an Important step.Don`t forget.

I stored half of the dough and after few days,mixed some more flour (around 1/4 cup-plain flour) and baked for 30 minutes exactly.This cookies are cracked up..;)

After mixing all INGS,If dough looks gooey please add some more flour.. Always cookie dough should be firmly but soft.Means it should not stick to fingers..

If the dough is too sticky,it needs extra time to bake...

It`s my own experiment.If you want less butter add half of the butter and remaining quantity,balance with milk..But be careful......
