Spiced cilantro leaves butter milk/cilantro leaves Chaas/Kothimeera majjiga/Indian spiced coriander leaves butter milk with honey/Coriander leaves health benefits


Lassi is a popular yogurt based drink in india..It is a blend of yogurt,spices,salt,water and some times fruits too.It is a famous road side savory drink which is flavored with cumin seeds or powder.Lassi, can prepare in two versions..one is sweet  one-which contains sugar and other is salted version.It is a very refreshing drink which can took with lunch or in the evening times.the difference between lassi and chaas is,lassi is water blended with yogurt and chaas is the liquid which left after extracting butter from yogurt.
Even though it`s chilled weather here,I was tempted to this cilantro masala butter milk recipe,which i got in youtube and within few days gave a try with my fresh and aromatic coriander leaves...It is same like our spiced butter milk, but I added few other ingredients on my Idea.In summer days this buttermilk functions very well which gives energy a refreshing feeling.

Health benefits of cilantro (coriander)
  • Cilantro herb contains no cholesterol; however, it is rich in antioxidants, essential oils, vitamins, and dietary fiber, which help reduce LDL or "bad cholesterol" while increasing HDL or "good cholesterol" levels.
  • Its leaves and seeds contain many essential volatile oils such as borneol, linalool, cineole, cymene, terpineol, dipentene, phellandrene, pinene and terpinolene.
  • The leaves and stem tips are also rich in numerous anti-oxidant polyphenolic flavonoids such as quercetin, kaempferol, rhamnetin and epigenin.
  • The herb is a good source of minerals like potassium, calcium, manganese, iron, and magnesium. Potassium is an important component of cell and body fluids that helps control heart rate and blood pressure. Iron is essential for red blood cell production. Manganese is used by the body as a co-factor for the antioxidant enzyme, superoxide dismutase.

  • Cilantro is one of the richest herbal sources for vitamin K; provide about 258% of DRI. Vitamin-K has a potential role in bone mass building by promoting osteotrophic activity in the bones. It also has established role in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease patients by limiting neuronal damage in their brain.
  • Coriander seed oil has been found application in many traditional medicines as analgesic, aphrodisiac, anti-spasmodic, deodorant, digestive, carminative, fungicidal, lipolytic (weight loss), stimulant and stomachic.

PREPARATION TIME- 10 MINUTES


WHAT YOU NEED

fresh and thick Yogurt-2 cups
salt
turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
black pepper powder-1 tsp(or to taste)
honey-1/2 tbsp( or 1 tbsp)
hing-3 pinches
oats powder-1 tbsp
cumin powder-1/2 tsp
water-2 tall glasses
cilantro leaves fresh chopped-1 loose handful



HOW TO COOK

In water add yogurt and whisk well..

Now add all other ingredients and beat twice..I added 1 tablespoon oats  powder also..But it`s optional..

Then serve chilled...




MAHAS NOTES

Can skip oats and drink directly.

Use always fresh curd and cilantro leaves.
