Green chick peas coconut masala/chana coconut kurma masala/Chick pea coconut gravy/Step by step pictures/Mahas Own recipes


Chana korma is a comfort dish to enjoy with  roti and pulkas.It is a simple gravy with coconut base..Because of adding coconut it gives a nice aroma to the dish and turns like a gravy.The ingredients which I added to grind along with coconut gives nice flavor to the korma.
Serve this dish with hot roti and enjoy :)

PREPARATION TIME- 20 MINUTES
COOKING TIME-30 MINUTES

WHAT YOU NEED

Black or green chick peas- 1 cup
onion-1 medium size
ripen tomato-1 big
oil-2 tbsp
CURD-2 tbsp
red chili powder-to taste
salt-to taste
turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
garam masala-1/2 tsp

TO GRIND
dry coconut pieces-1/4 cup
roasted chana dal/roasted gram dal/putnalu-1 tbsp
cloves-3 
cinnamon stick-1 small
cardamom pod-1
fennel seeds/sompu-1 tsp




HOW TO COOK

Take all the ingredients whic mentioned in to grind lsit.With 2 tbsp water grind into fine paste and keep aside..

Wash and soak chick peas over night or at least 3-4 hours..Then pressure cook into soft.

Now heat a kadai or vessel with and saute cumin.Then chopped onion and saute til soft..

Then add chopped tomato and mix..Add chili+turmeric powders,salt and cook til mushy..Now add ground coconut paste and blend every thing finely.

Add around 1/2 cup of water and cover with lid..Cook for 5 minutes in low flame.Then add cooked soften chick peas and fold it well.

Cook for 5 more minutes in low flame and add yogurt then add yogurt and cook finally 2-3 minutes in medium flame..

Turn off and serve hot with rice or rotis.
