Nilgiri Chicken Korma/step by step pictures/Simple,spicy mint cilantro chicken gravy for rice n rotis/south indian popular chicken recipes



My 5 years old Mahadev is pure non vegetarian same like papai..last 2 weeks back he strongly asked for chicken curry..When I browsed web for famous south indian chicken recipes,a name called nilgiri chciekn kurma attracted  my eyes..Without doing late,browsed for recipe in youtube n web..I want to cook it perfectly without ruining its originality.It`s not fair to spoil the recipe which si very popular..I admire some times,where my lazy ness goes while brwosing for long times,just for a single recipe...:)


O.K.Coming to the recipe,this is a combination of mint,cilantro and a rich fine paste..The paste is a combination of  coconut,cashews and poppy seeds...These are main ingredients in the recipe and it`s a perfect dish for rotis and hot white rice too.You peple may know,that Iam green color devotee..Along with my favorite green herbs this other rich ingredients gave a good taste to this curry.iam sure..you will like it...

WHAT YOU NEED


Chicken- 1 kg
onion-1 big
red chili powder-to taste
ginger garlic paste-1 tbsp
turmeric powder-1 tsp
garam masala-1 tsp
oil-2 tbsp
black cumin-1 tsp
fennel seeds-1 tsp
cloves-3
green cardamom pods-2
cinamon stick-1 inch small

TO GRIND

cilantro leaves-1 cup
mint leaves-1 1/2 cup tightly packed
green chili-4-5
salt
coconut fresh-1/3 cup
poppy seeds/khus khus/gasa gasalu-1 tbsp
cashews-12



HOW TO COOK

Wash chicken several times and keep aside...


In mixy jar,blend cilantro leaves,mint leaves,green chili into fine paste..I love that colour ..;)


Next grind coconut,cashews and poppy seeds with little bit of water,very finely..


Now heat pressure cooker with oil add whole spices,which I given under oil..Saute for 30 seconds and add onion..


Cook onion til soft and add green paste..let it cook for 5 minutes in low flame..then add  chicken..Mix carefully and cook for 5 minutes in medium flame.


Now add chili powder,salt,ginger garlic paste and mix well..cook for 5 minutes and add coconut ground paste..


Then combine every thing well and add 1/2-3/4 cup of water this time.Close with lid and pressure cook for 15 minutes in medium flame or for 3 whistles.


Finally turn off and check it out..Serve hot with white rice or rotis..along with lemon wedge and onion slices..
