Boondi Laddu/besan flour sweets/how to make boondi ladoo/gram flour sweet balls/Indian Popular festival sweets/Indian popular sweet recipes/step by step pictures


sweets plays a big role in Indian cuisine..like functions,festivals,parties,birthdays and get to gethers.India is famous for traditonal ,authentic dishes ,specially  sweets.. like,Boondi laddu,gulab  jamun,double ka meetha,rasagulla,kaju katli,mysore pak etc are very popular..Boondi laddu is a very common sweet which mostly south indians loves to make in festival times...This boondi laddu making process is little bit lengthy and tough which need time and patiecne.making good shapes of boondi gives a best shape laddus..Besan flour plays a major role in indian sweet and this boondi laddu also made with chick pea  (or) besan flour where the flour mixed with enought water and using a speical model of ladle (with holes) prepares boondi first.then second step is making sugar syrup. and finally shaping laddus..


Believe it or not..This is my first attempt in making laddus.Uphhh.I was bit tensed and curious about the result..Choosing right ladle to make boondi is the first most important in the recipe,other wise you may not a get a proper shape..
The ladle which i used first was not good n without making late took other one which gave a nice boondi..If you are attempitng first time try with less quantity with help of any other person...Size of laddu is depended on you and patience..It completes in 3 major steps,but all the 3 steps very important to get success in the recipe.If you are unable to shape laddus have it as it is and enjoy..


WHAT YOU NEED

Gram flour/senaga pindu/besan flour-1 cup
sugar-1 1/2 cup
cardamom powder-1 tsp
food color-2 pinches (optional)
cahsews or almonds or pistachois -finely chopped few
oil-for deep fry


HOW TO MAKE

Sieve flour in a bowl and add enough water..make it like a soft,smooth batter without any lumps..consistency should not be too thin or too thick.

Take sugar in another bowl and add enough water.and let it boil until syrup forms..Add color and cardamom powder in it..When the sugar dissolves completely,take a drop of syrup with spoon and after it cools,check with your two fingers.if it`s forms like a string then the syrup is done perfectly.

Heat oil in kadai and mix flour batter once again nicely..Now take a  boond maker or boondi jara (flat ladle with holes)

Check out the oil is heat or not by dropping a batter little bit.Keep ladle on top of the oil with left hand and pour batter on it witha cup..using spoon finsih the batter to fry in oil which is called boondi.

Now fry boondi well,take care to don`t burn it..Then remove it in sugar syrup bowl..

Repeat the process until batter completes and then fry cashews and raisins in the same oil..Then add on boondi bowl..

You can add camphor powder also.Now start mixing all the boondi with spoon first..let ot sit for 10-15 minutes until boondi observes syrup..Then wet your hands with some ghee or water. and start making boondis..take some boondi mix into hands and by pressing tightly,carefully from all the sides make it in round shapes..

It`s little bit time needed hard work,but for perfect shapes you need to do..Once after finishing making boondi laddus set them aisde for 1-2 hrs to to dry and serve to ur loving people.

MAHAS NOTES

This is a not low calorie sweet or healthy..It contains big amount of oil and sugar.So,health conscious people better to stay away.

Don`t compromise on suagr and oil quantites..Right amount of sugar gives a wonderful taste..Use fresh oil for deep frying..not used once.

You can use ghee instead of oil if  you like..don`t skip cardamom powder and nuts..Chop cashews very finely..

Consistency of suagr syrup also very important.if it too thin,you can`t shape laddus..

apply ghee or oil in between while making laddus to bind them,instead of water.

Most of the videos told to add fried boondi directly into syrup,but I removed it on strainer...But I think ading directly into syrup may makes the shaping easy..Next time when I try will update the notes..

Nobody can make it awesomely in the first attmept.specially,this kind of traditional sweets are little bit tough too.Try til you can do it..after few more trails definitely you can achieve it.

Size of laddus is depended on yours..Well,my palm n fingers are very small,which holded very little boondi amount...So,i got it ,sweet n small little laddu balls..

you can add food colors like red,green or orange in besan flour batter to make colorful boondi...

finally use always fresh and good brand of besan flour..
