Prawns Dum Biryani | Shrimp Biryani | Hyderabadi style popular Prawns biriyani in dum method | Royyalu Biriyani


Til now I have posted around 10 different biryani recipes and today Iam going to introduce one more biryani recipe to you all..This time it is prawns biryani..Yes...This recipe process also same like common chicken biryani except using prawns....The marination of the prawns is very Important step in the recipe...It is very easy to cook,more than the chicken biryani,because prawns takes very less time to cook..Usually sunday I prefers biryanis and this is very old recipe which I cooked long time back...I thought I missed this pics along with some other recipe pictures,but i got this in pen drive  few weeks back...I searched for step wise pictures,but my bad luck,missed those pics.Next time definitely will upload the step wise pictures.If you love biryanis,try this easy version which cna cook in less than 1 hour and enjoy with raita...

PREPARATION TIME-  30-45  MINUTES
COOKING TIME- 30 MINUTES


WHAT YOU NEED

Basmati rice-2 cups
onion-1 big
tomato-1 big
mint leaves-handful
coriander leaves-handful
Ghee-2-3 tbsp
coconut milk-3 tbsp
warm milk-1/4 cup+red food color 2 pinches

FOR MARINATION
Deveined Prawns/shrimps/royyalu-20
red chili powder- 2 tsps
salt- to taste
garam masala-1 tsp
ginger garlic paste (GGP)-1/2 tbsp
cumin+coriander powders- 1+1 tsps
turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
oil-1/4 cup


HOW TO COOK

Wash rice and soak it in water for 30 min.Drain and cook the rice normally in a rice cooker.Because prawns don`t take much time to cook,just we spread rice on top..So,cook rice completely or upto 90%

Add a dash of ghee or oil while cooking the rice and after done keep it aside.

Clean & devein the prawns.Marinate them with red chili powder,turmeric powder,salt,garam masala,GGP,cumin+coriander powders.Rest it for 1 hour minimum or over night if possible..

Heat oil in vessel add the sliced onion and fry till light golden brown.remove n keep aside...In the same vessel fry chopped onions til brown and add in marinated prawns,Cook  for 5 minutes in medium flame and check once...

Add in tomato pieces and fry in medium heat for 5 minutes. Add little water if necessary and also coconut milk.Cook for 10 minutes in low flame by closing with lid..Now,remove out half of the cooked prawns mixture..

Now add 1 tbsp ghee in the cooked prawns pan and put a layer of rice.Spread half of the coriander+mint leaves+ 1tbsp ghee...Put a layer of removed prawns over it and then again rice.Add in remaining mint+cilantro leaves,ghee, fried onions and milk which is mixed with color..Close with lid.

Heat on under a thick bottomed pan and put this vessel..Put some weight and cook for 10 minutes on dum...

Turn off and after 15 minutes remove lid and mix carefully..Serve hot with raita..
