Black eyed Beans Masala Gravy | Alasandalu Masala Kura | Lobia Gravy | Black eyed beans South Indian Recipes


Black eyed beans or lobia are one of the finest healthy beans to use in regular cooking..Til now I used to cook a simple curry,gravy with onion tomato mixture or dal for kids.But, I was bored to cook again and again the same regular recipes.This lobia recipes are goes well with roti or pulka more than the white rice..So,I thought to create a new version recipe for roti specially..
Ingredients which I have used here gives a good masala paste for the gravy.It `s my own idea and the gravy tasted so good with rotis..Try it for a change with less quantity and share your results.Plzz..If you have any other variation recipes,kindly share with us..
WHAT YOU NEED

Black eyed beans/alasandalu/lobia -pressure cooked - 1 cup/250 grams 
onions-2 small
tomato puree-1/2 cup
oil-2 tbsp
cumin seeds-1 tsp
red chili powder-to taste
salt-to taste
turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
cumin+coriander powder-1/2+1/2 tsp
garam masala-1/2 tsp

FOR MASALA PASTE

peanuts-2 tbsp
khus khus/gasagasalu/white poppy seeds- 1 tsp
sesame seeds-1 tbsp
coconut powder-1 tbsp
almonds or cashews-5


HOW TO COOK

Dry roast all the ingredients which mentioned under MASALA PASTE.. Then using 1/3 cup of water blend into smooth paste..

Heat on a non stick pan.add oil..Saute cumin,finely chopped onions,GGP and fry for a minute..

Now add in tomato puree and saute well.After 2 minutes add in masala paste,chili powder,salt,turmeric powder.

Add in black eyed beans+1/2 cup of water for gravy consistency.(if it looks too thick)

Cook for 5-8 minutes in low flame and add finally cumin+coriander powder,garam masala and mix once..

Turn off after 2-3 minutes and add cilantro leaves if you have..Serve hot with roti.paratha or pulka...
