About recipe now:
Few words about Raw Jackfruit Curry:

We Chettinad people love raw jack fruit( palakai) as much like kerela people . Keralites are fond of raw jack fruit and they call it as chakka ,they do variety of recipes like pradaman, curry(with fresh ground masala),Ularthiyathu(stir fry),Kuzhachathu(steamed one) etc.

Raw Jack fruit Curry/Palakai piratal is yet another chettinad special made with Raw Jack fruit , potatoes along  with  ground coconut masala. This is a dry curry compared to kootu with Raw Jack fruit.

  • 2 potato
  • 1/2 raw jack fruit/Palakai/Tender jack fruit(small size)
  • salt as required
  • 1 small onion
  • 1/2 tomato
For grinding:
  • 2 tbsp coconut
  • 3-4 red chilies
  • 1 tsp fennel
  • 1/2 tsp jeera
  • 2 garlic
  • small ginger
For tempering:
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp fennel
  • 1 small cinnamon stick
  • Pressure cook the potato seperate,You need to do this if the potato takes longer time to cook .
  • Clean the jack fruit by removing its peel and cut the flesh in to  pieces of same size alike potato.
  •  Pressure cook raw jackfruit and potatoes for a whistle or until soft(don't cook the potatoes again if its already pressure cooked, cube them and keep it).Not so mushy.

  • Add tomatoes and cook them thorough.
  • Add the ground paste, required salt ,required water and boil it until it becomes thick gravy(the long it cooks the curry will be tasty).
  • When the gravy is thick add the cooked potatoes and raw jack fruit.
  • When the curry comes together ( jack fruit has to coated with the ground paste .So keep the curry in  low flame for sometime).
  • Raw Jack Fruit curry is ready.
  • Serve it with sambhar rice, rasam rice ,Roti .
