Ragi or finger millet is one of the popular food which south indians use in daily cooking..I have seen so many recipes like ragi dili,dosa,murukku,kheer etc...Recently I have started using ragi at home and already posted ragi kheer recipes few days back.It`s good to include these kind of low calorie,protein packed foods in our daily meals..Hope I cook many more recipes with ragi in upcoming days.If so,definitely will share in Mahaslovelyhome...
Come to this recipe,It is a simple drink which can prepare in less than 15 minutes for break fast times or even in the afternoon times also it goes well..It is called java in telugu and people known as "ragimalt" it is bit thin in consistency and tastes good when you serve/taste hot...Iam sharing bith buttermilk and jaggery versions here..In summer times,butter milk version is very good for health which gives kind of instant energy..If you want for kids.try it with jaggery which is sweet version,surely they will enjoy it..Here i used home made ragi flour,if you good brand of store bought powder/flour can use it...The bitter milk and milk quantities are depending on your taste.so,please slightly change the ingredients measurings and cook it..

WHAT YOU NEED

FOR SAVORY RAGI JAVA

Ragi flour-1/2 cup
water-1/2 cup
butter milk-3/4 cup (if you like add 1 cup )
salt-to taste
dry roasted peanuts-handful

FOR SWEET VERSION

Ragi flour-1/2 cup
water-1/2 cup (to mix flour)
milk-1/2 cup (if you like add 3/4 cup )
water-1/3 cup to boil
jaggery/bellam-1/2 cup (acc to your taste)


HOW TO COOK

take ragi flour in a bowl.Add water and mix very well to avoid forming lumps....Now in a non stick pan,heat water..While boiling add dry roasted peanuts,salt and mix once.

Now add in ragi mixture which diluted in water before and mix.Stir in between to avoid forming lumps..Cook for 5-8 minutes in medium flame..

Turn off and add butter milk.. You can buttermilk add up to 1 cup for thin consistency.It`s your choice.

take ragi flour in a bowl.Add water and mix very well....Now in a non stick pan,heat water+milk..While boiling 
add in ragi mixture which diluted in water before,jaggery and mix.. 

Stir in between, cook for 5-6 minutes in medium flame until forms thick mixture..If it is too thick add milk up to 1 cup,it gives a thin consistency,but adjust jaggery quantity..

Each one can serve for one adult..Depending on the persons increase the quantity and try it..Before serving add some cashews in butter milk ragi java and raisins in sweet one..Serve always warm...
