UGADI SPECIAL SWEETS

Ugadi is on the way...According to our telugu calender we hindus going to celebrate traditional new year on 21st march..Ugadi Pachadi is the tarditional recipe which we people usually makes it.Along with pachadi we prepares polelu which are famous too..I already posted polelu recipe long time back and recently when Iam thinking about festival special sweets,thought to prepare healthy version of polelu.So,with oats,jaggery and coconut I prepared these and they tasted so good..


Poli is a south indian traditional festival sweet which is very famous..It is called bakshyalu or polelu in telugu,usually on ugadi we prefers to make this poli.Chanadal stuffed poli is the popular unique recipe from a long time,but these days people making different kind of stuffings and preferring  healthy versions lot.In the same way,I prepared this polis on my own idea..
Here I used oats,coconut,wheat flour and jaggery for sweet taste..Sweet tooth people can try this guilt free version and for kids also this is an awesome healthy sweet snack to enjoy any time.If you are a poli lover,must try this and don`t forget to share your opinions..please...

CATEGORY- HEALTHY SWEETS/FESTIVAL SWEETS
PREPARATION TIME- 30 MINUTES
COOKING TIME- 30 MINUTES


WHAT YOU NEED

To prepare dough

wheat flour-1 cup
salt-2 pinches
oil-1 tbsp
white flour/maida- for rolling poli

For Stuffing

oats-1/2 cup
desiccated coconut powder-1/2 cup
cardamom powder-1 tsp
jaggery/bellam-3/4 cup
ghee-2 tbsp+ for frying poli



HOW TO COOK

In a bowl take flour,salt,oil and using water prepare soft dough..Knead it for 203 minutes and rest it for 15-20 minutes.

Coarsely grind jaggery first or using mortar pestle you can do it.. Now in a mixy jar take oats,coconut,cardamom powder,jaggery and grind into fine powder..

Now heat a non stick pan with 2 tbsp ghee and add this ground mixture..Fry a minute and add milk..Stir well and cook for 2-3 minutes in medium flame and turn off.After 5 minutes apply some ghee to palms and prepare this mixture into small size balls.

Now knead dough again for 2 minutes and divide into equal size balls..Using rolling pin and board roll it in puri size using extra white flour..Place the oats sweet ball and cover all edges..

Using some more maida roll it in medium size carefully...Prepare all polis like this and heat a pan..put some ghee and place poli,cook both sides evenly..you can use some ghee for rich taste.repeat same process with all remaining polis..

Serve hot with some muruku.
