Indian Railway Mutton Curry | Mutton gravies | South indian non veg curries for rice and rotis | Quick n easy mutton curry - pressure cooker method

This is one of the Simple yet delicious, Goat Curry / Mutton Curry which is very famous in india ,"Called as Indian Railway mutton curry" It is also easy to put together. last few weeks back,when I want to cook a simple, mutton recipe thought to cook a very new dish.
This Mutton Curry is tangy in taste because of tamarind juice also delicious too..I used store bought tomato puree,but you can also use fresh tomatoes...Also,i skipped few ingredients ,if you have in hand can use.If you thicken the gravy, it tastes just as good with hot. I served with plain rice along with salad and Raita or with Chapatis also tastes great.Try this innovative dish and serve the wholesome non-vegetarian meal to your family and enjoy.. :)

Mutton -500 grams
Onions -1 big
Tomato puree -1/2 cup or tomatoes-2
Potato- 1 big
Tamarind juice 1/2 cup
Green Chili -2 (I skipped)
Ginger garlic Paste /GGP -1/2 tsp
Turmeric  powder -1/2 tsp
Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
red Chili powder 1 1/2 - 2 tsp
Salt - to taste
Vinegar - 1 tsp
Coriander leaves (chopped) - 1/2 bunch
Nutmeg powder 1 pinch (i skipped)
Green Chili - 2 (I skipped)

Oil 2 tbsp
whole garam masala

Pepper corns 1/2 tsp
Fennel seeds 1/2 tsp
Bay leaves - big
Red Chili -2
cinnamon stick-1 inch
cumin seeds-1 tsp


In a mixing bowl take all the spice powders,GGP,lemon juice,oil... now throw mutton and mix well.Marinate for minimum 1 hour or over night at least. Marinating is optional,I prefer always,but it`s your choice.

Now heat a pressure cooker with oil,throw whole garam masala ingredients..saute for few seconds..Now throw in sliced onions,saute well..Add in diced potatoes,mix well.. Next continue with marinated mutton.. (if you are using fresh mutton, add all spice powders along with mutton in this step ) give a good mix..

After 5 minutes add in tomato puree,enough water,mix well..Also,throw a handful of mint,cilantro leaves and pressure cook for 40-45 minutes..Now,after opening lid pour in tamarind juice,vinegar and mix well..Cook for 5-10 minutes in low flame and turn off..Serve hot with rice,pulao recipes or roti..
