Happy vinayaka chaturthi wishes to all my friends..Hope you all enjoying this beautiful festival with fulll of fun and happiness..I hope All families who are bringing Ganesha home this year will be already busy with the preparations..All Indian festivals are incomplete without some really delicious sweet dish recipes. But the Ganesh Chaturthi recipes are different. They are not just for us foodies. Even Lord Ganesha loves to gorge on these special delicacies. That is why, these Ganesh Chaturthi recipes can be presented to Ganpati Bappa as well. As Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival that is mainly celebrated in Maharashtra,andhra pradesh and Karnataka, most of these recipes belong to these three states.
Ganesh Chaturthi recipes are common,but only the difference is in names..the most important dish of this festival is undrallu,paala talikalu and modaks.. Modaks are which made with rice flour and sweet stuffing..well..We used to celebrate this beautiful festival with mom and bros..after marriage came to know that my in laws don`t celebrate this festival because of some reasons..so,just we do puja like other days and offers prasadam and fruits..Hope our family also celebrates it very happily soon....
After watching this festival popular posts of my co bloggers in fb,I was quite interested to cook and taste..Hehehehe!!! So,yesterday tried this yummy sweet which is very famous of my state..We telugu people makes this sweet mainly for this festival..This is my first attempt,but still got the wonderful result...it is an healthy sweet,because of good ingredients like wheat flour,dry fruits and jaggery...jaggery which we use in the recipe gives delicious taste..I cooked this last night,so the step wise pictures are bit un celar.Sorry for that.Anyway,you can prepare this yummy dish any time,not only as a festival special and enjoy warm or cold with your family and friends.. :)

PREPARATION TIME- 30 MINUTES
COOKING TIME- 20 MINUTES
1.Wheat flour - 1/2 cup
2. Jaggery-1 cup
3.Cardamom powder-1/2 tsp
5.Salt-1/8 tsp (optional)
6.dry fruits -cashews,almonds,raisins-few
7.coconut powder-1/8 cup (optional)
HOW TO COOK
1.Take a bowl add in jaggery (2tbsp),little bit of water to dilute jaggery,then add in wheat flour,salt,ghee -1 tsp and mix well by adding milk or water,prepare a smooth dough.Set aside for 10 minutes.
2.Knead well the dough,take a small size ball,using two palms prepare talikalu which looks like noodles or take a sev maker, stuff some dough inside it.Now press gently on a plate.
3.Take a pan pour 1 cup water-1/2 tbsp ghee and bring it to boil.Mean while fry dry fruits in ghee in another pan and keep aside..now pour this prepared flour noodles in water and let it cook for 10 minutes in low flame or until they cook soft and smooth.then fold in coconut powder,stir well and cook for 5 more minutes.
4.Off the stove.Add fried nuts and cardamom powder,mix well.Transfer into a bowl and garnish with almonds,raisins.Serve hot.
EASY TO DO WITH STEP WISE PICTURES
You can use sugar instead of jaggery.any thing adjust the quantity according to your taste.
Also can add milk in water while boiling ,for rich taste..but,this is the basic sweet recipe which we cook..
You can do this with rice flour too,But,need to cook rice flour in water first then prepare thalikalu.
Iam unable to explain about making thalikalu,but you can get an idea with above pics i hope..
coconut powder is an optional.Use fresh one if possible,here i have used desiccated coconut which is store bought packet.
you can use All purpose flour that is maida or whole wheat flour also works well for this recipe...
