Usually indians prepares kheer on occasions and in festival times. But,I cook different combination payasam recipes,often.I mean,it does n`t need any special day or time..I have posted some kheer recipes like carrot kheer,rice kheer and badam kheer long time back.
I also posted a kheer recipe with carrot and sago combination..So,this recipe also similar to that one.The only difference is here I used pumpkin..So,this is one of the option to use pumpkin in kitchen.I was quite curious,about the result,but kheer turned out awesome…It is healthy, tasty n colorful too…I know its looks like a simple recipe,but the only reason to share it in the blog is to let you know about using pumpkin in this way.Finally,it goes very well as a dessert after a meals..Give a try to this healthy kheer, and enjoy with your family n friends…

WHAT YOU NEED
pumpkin grated-1 cup
sago pearls/saggubiyyam/javvarisi -1/3 cup
cardamom powder-1 tsp

HOW TO COOK
Wash and soak sago pearls in water (1 cup) for 15-30 minutes.Heat ghee in non stick pan,fry raisins,almonds, cashews and keep aside.peel skin,grate pumpkin.. In the same ghee pan,roast pumpkin for 5 minutes..
Then add in soaked sago pearls along with water,mix once...Cook for 5 minutes in low flame then add in milk and mix again.let it cook for 5 minutes,then add in sugar as per your taste.Cook for 10 minutes in low flame..
Add in cardamom powder and fried nuts,turn off.Serve hot or warm or cold..any way tastes awesome:)
