Malwani Masala Chicken Curry | How to make Malvani Chicken Masala Gravy | Chicken Curry with Coconut | 20 Chicken Curry Recipes


Basically being a food lover I like to try new dishes every time instead of repeating old recipes again and again.Being a food blogger also love to introduce popular region dishes in Mahaslovelyhome always.This is a spicy and simple chicken curry with coconut paste and malwani masala powder.This dish is from the Malwan area of the Konkan region.
Like many other South Indian cuisines, Malwani cuisine also uses coconut mainly in their dishes.. This curry goes well with rice as well as rotis.Masala powder which we prepares fro the curry makes the curry very flavorful and spicy.. Adjust the spices according to the chicken quantity.I pressure cooked chicken but if you are using boneless can cook in vessel.

WHAT YOU NEED



Chicken pieces with bone 750 grams
Dried red chillies broken 8
Ginger paste 1 1/2 tablespoons
Garlic paste 1 1/2 tablespoons
Cumin seeds 3/4 teaspoon
Caraway seed (shahi jeera) powder 3/4 teaspoon

cinnamon stick-1 inch size
staranise-small flowerCloves 6-8
Green cardamoms 6
Black cardamoms 1
Black peppercorns 7-8
Dried coconut chopped 3/4 cup
Salt to taste
Coriander seeds 3 teaspoon
Oil 2 tablespoons
Onions sliced 2 medium
Turmeric powder 3/4 teaspoon

Red chili powder-2 tea spoons 

cilantro leaves-few




HOW TO COOK

Mix chicken with salt,turmeric powder,red chili powder,ginger paste and garlic paste and set aside in a refrigerator to marinate for ½ hour.

Dry roast cumin seeds, caraway seeds, cloves, green cardamoms, black cardamoms, black peppercorns, poppy seeds,red chillies and coriander seeds till fragrant. Cool and grind to a powder. Now dry roast dried coconut pieces and along with chopped onion make a fine paste out of it.

Heat oil in a deep non-stick pan or pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds,chopped onions in and sauté. Add chicken and sauté till lightly browned.

Now add ground coconut+onion paste and mix. Add the masala powder and mix well. Add 2 cups of water and cook, covered, till the chicken is done.throw some fresh cilantro leaves and serve hot.
