Ribbon Muruku | Ribbon Murukku With Roasted Chanadal | Ribbon Muruku With Dalia | Putnala Pappu Muruku

Murukku is one of the famous south indian deep fried snack which we used to make in festival times specially.I have already posted some muruku recipes here in this blog and today came with an another interesting muruku recipe.

In the festival times south indian love to make different kind sweets and snacks,in that this ribbon muruku is one of the popular recipe which we usually make always..There are four types of plates in muruku achu.In that we need Ribbon shaped plate particularly to make this shaped muruku. This muruku is also called as nada thenkuzhal. It is spicy in atste,easy to make,totally a yummy snack to enjoy in the evening time with a cup of chai..

Rice Flour - 2 cups 

Fried Dal powder/ roasted chanadal powder/putnala pappu 

podi - 1 cup

Maida/ All purpose flour - 3/4 cup

Butter/Ghee - 2 tsps

Red Chilli powder - 1 tsp

Sesame seeds- 1/4 cup (optional)

Cumin seeds -2 table spoons

Asafoetida or hing - 1/4 tsp

Salt as per taste

Oil- for deep fry 


Take rice flour in a bowl,add in ground roasted chanadal 

powder,red chili powder,salt,hing,cumin seeds,ghee and mix 

well using fingers..

Then adding water slowly make a soft dough..Add water 

carefully,other wise flour mixture becomes lumpy..

Now heat a kadai/deep bottomed vessel with oil for frying 

muruku.Take muruku press put the achu,place some dough..

When the oil is heat,gently press the muruku maker in the 

circular motion for a good shaped muruku.Then fry it both 

sides carefully in medium flame.Once it is done remove out 

and repeat the process till you finish the dough..

Serve hot with some chai or as a snack..
