Cabbage Chana dal Curry | Cabbage Senagapappu Koora | Side Dishes For Roti | Cabbage Curry Recipes | Subzi Recipes For Chapathi


This is a simple,tasty yet healthy curry which I cook often in week days..It`s a very common curry which you can see in telangana cuisine any time.I prefer this curry with roti mostly instead of having with rice...
Cabbage and chana dal combination is one of the best pair and always it`s a lovely hit in my kitchen.. Soaking dal is the main step in this subji,if the dal is ready you can cook this in minutes...I suggest to soak over night ot at least 30 minutes...Also,pressure cooking is the best way for saving.. Try this next time and serve hot with chapathi.

WHAT YOU NEED

GGP-1 tea spoon
onion -1 medium size
cabbage- 1 small size
chana dal/bengal gram/senaga pappu-1/2 cup
red chili powder-2 tea spoon
salt- as per taste
turmeric powder-1/2 tea spoon
garam masala-1 tea spoon
chopped fresh coriander leaves-2 table spoons
oil-2 table spoons

For Tadka
mustard seeds-1 tea spoon
cumin seeds-1 tea spoon
red chili-1
urad dal-1 tea spoon
curry leaves-few


HOW TO COOK

Chop cabbage finely,wash it and keep in colander aside..Chop onion finely.. Soak chana dal in 1 cup of water for 1 hour. Now heat on pressure cooker with oil,throw he tadka ingredients,saute for few seconds..Then saute GGP,onion and add cabbage..Mix and cook for a minute..

Now add spice powders red chili powder,salt,turmeric powder and mix every thing..After 2 minutes add soaked dal and enough water.cover with lid and cook for 10 minutes in medium flame,may be for 2 whistles....(I don`t count whistles)

Then open lid,stir once,add subji masala or garam masala,chopped fresh coriander leaves and stir well every thing..Turn off stove now.. Serve hot with chapathi or warm rice...
