Achari Chana Pulao is one of the easiest yet tastiest one pot meal which can prepare in minutes when the pressure cooked chana and soaked rice are ready aside..The difference between to this and usual pulao is adding pickle.It`s the main twist in the recipe,and pickle gives a nice flavor to the pulao.

Black chana (chickpea) are nutritious,highly rich in proteins and minerals with zero calories..Cooking chana along with rice is not makes a tasty meals yet healthy too.I used mango achar (pickle) but can use lemon pickle too.This rice is highly aromatic with pickle flavoured which you can't avoid so over all,it`s a perfect one pot meals which can pack to lunch box.

WHAT YOU NEED
Chickpeas, soaked overnight and boiled - 1 cup
Oil - 2 tbsp
Rice - 2 cups
Onion, finely sliced - 1 big
Green chilies (slit) - 4-5 nos or Red Chili powder - 2 tsp
Bay leaves - 1 nos
Fennel seeds - 1 tea spoon
Mustard seeds - 1  tea spoon
Cumin seeds - 1  tea spoon
Fenugreek seeds - ½  tea spoon

dry red chili-1
Hing - a pinch
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
Haldi/turmeric powder - 1/2  tea spoon
Mango achaar - 1 tbsp

coriander powder-1/2 tea spoon
cumin powder-1/2 tea spoon
garam masala-1/2 tea spoon
chat masala-1/2 tea spoon
kasoori methi-1/2 tea spoon
Salt - to taste
Mint leaves - few
Coriander leaves- finely chopped - few

yogurt-1/4 cup
HOW TO COOK
Wash and soak chana (chick peas) over night and pressure cook for 3 whistles in the morning.Wash and soak rice for at least 1 hour. 
Take a pan and add some ghee. When its hot, add bay leaves, mustard seeds and when they crackle, add fennel seeds, cumin,fenugreek seeds and fry till you get a nice aroma. Add sliced onions,ginger garlic paste and sauté till the onions are transparent. Add black chick peas,salt,green chillies or red chili powder,hing,turmeric powder, cook well until the raw flavours are gone.
Then add coriander powder, cumin powder,garam masala, chat masala,kasoori methi,mango achaar and mix well. Mix in yogurt,cook the channa masala for 5 minutes in medium flame. Add finely chopped mint leaves and coriander leaves and mix again.Now add soaked basmati rice along with water and mix gently.Cover the pan with a lid and cook over slow flame till the rice is cooked and done. Once done, serve piping hot with curd raita.
