Palakura Pappu | South Indian Style Spinach Dal Recipe | Dal Recipes For Rice and Roti

Dal is an Indian major food which is different in north and south India..This spinach dal is quite popular in our telugu people families,This is a simple yet spicy dal which is my mom`s style..Spinach is a very good leafy vegetable for health so add it in your daily cooking often..We get two types of spinach here so using japanese type cooked this dal..
Soaking dal and chopping spinach are the two main steps to proceed the process,if these are done,cooking dal is may finishes in minutes,which is almost like a one pot cooking...This dal goes well with hot white rice and even with rotis..All you need is some pickle and curd as side dish which makes it a perfect meal..cook this next time and serve hot.

To cook dal you need,
 Toor dal -1/2 cup
Oil-1 tea spoon
1 cup water
1/4 tea spoon turmeric powder
Other ingredients
spinach/palak-1 bunch
onion-1 medium size
tomato -1 big size
Ginger garlic paste -1 tea spoon
Red chili powder-1 tea spoon
Salt-to taste
Turmeric powder-1/2 tea spoon
Coriander powder-1/2 tea spoon
Garam masala -1/2 tea spoon
For Tadka
Oil-2 table spoons
Mustard seeds-1 tea spoon
Cumin seeds-1 tea spoon
Dry red chili-1 
Curry leaves-few
Urad dal-1 tea spoon
Chana dal-1 tea spoon
Hing -2 pinches
Wash and chop spinach finely.Chop onion,tomato finely.Wash and soak dal for 20 minutes.In pressure cooker, add dal, 1 tea spoon oil,1 cup water,1/4 tea spoon turmeric powder,pressure cook this for 10 minutes in medium flame.Now heat a pan with oil,add mustard seeds,cumin seeds,red chili,curry leaves,urad dal,chana dal,hing and saute for few seconds..Add finely chopped onions,ginger garlic paste and saute for a minute.Add finely chopped tomato now and mix well.Then add spinach and mix well.Now add red chili powder,salt,turmeric powder,mix well and cook for 3 minutes in medium flame..Then add cooked dal and stir gently.Cook this for 5 minutes in low flame and turn off.throw in coriander powder,garam masala and stir gently,serve hot with chapathi or steamed white rice along with curd and pickle..
