chana masala with coconut milk | coconut milk chole masala | coconut milk recipes | chickpea curry for chapati

coconut milk is my favourite so tries new recipes everytime like gravies, rice dishes and even sweets like payasam recipes. You, people, know very well about the chole masala which is a quite popular dish in north India. This is not an exact chole recipe, I did slight changes like avoiding purees, using coconut milk and chopped tomatoes.

Any recipes with chana like pulao, gravy, curry are tastes so good, but all you need is a little bit of interest in creating new dishes. Try this delicious chana coconut milk gravy and serve with chapati.

WHAT YOU NEED
oil -3 tablespoons
cumin seeds- 1 teaspoon
bay leaf- 1no
 cloves-2-3
 cinnamon stick-2 inch stick
 shahi jeera- 1 teaspoon
onions-1 big size
ginger garlic paste- 1 teaspoon
 tomatoes-2 big size
red chilli powder- 1-2 teaspoons
 salt- to taste
turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
pressure cooked chana-2 cups
thick coconut milk- 1 cup
HOW TO COOK 
Heat a non-stick pan, add oil. When the oil is hot, add cumin seeds, bay leaf, cloves, cinnamon stick, shahi jeera and saute for few seconds.
Now add finely chopped onions, ginger garlic paste, mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
Now add finely chopped tomatoes, stir well and cook tomatoes turn mushy. Add red chilli powder, salt, turmeric powder, mix well and cook for 2 minutes in low heat.
Then add pressure cooked chana, stir finely and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add coconut milk, mix well add 1 cup of water and cook for 10-15 minutes in low flame with a lid. Turn off and serve hot with roti/chapati.
