Murukku is our favourite snack and I like to try different versions every time. So, this time I tried with urad dal and the murukku turned out crispy. I use store-bought rice flour always, but if you want can use homemade flour too. It`s nice to use carom seeds in the recipe which is good for digestion. Try this next time and serve with tea.

WHAT YOU NEED
rice flour-3 cups (I used store-bought Urbano brand)
urad dal-1 cup
salt to taste
red chilli powder- 2 teaspoons (as per your taste)
cumin seeds-1 teaspoon
butter-2 tablespoons
vegetable oil for deep frying
HOW TO COOK
Dry roast urad dal for 5 minutes. After 5-10 minutes grind into a fine powder. Sieve the flour to remove the coarse mixture.
Take a mixing bowl, add rice flour, ground flour, red chilli powder, salt, cumin seeds, hot ghee, and mix well. 
Add water slowly and knead into a soft dough. Take murukku press, put your favourite plate, keep some dough. 
Heat oil in a Kadai, when the oil is hot, start pressing slowly.  Fry in the medium flame till light in brown in colour. Then remove and take it on a paper towel. Continue this till finish the dough and serve later.
