We get ridge gourd,bottle gourd,bitter gourd here in local market. After a long time bought few so got chance to try some recipes which gave a feeling that Iam at mom`s place.We telugu people often uses these vegetables in day to day life which are perfect with rice and chapathi any time.
This is one of the easy and tasty curry with chana dal addition..Amma cooks this curry often also have seen in a cook book.This is light in calories and healthy specially for diabetes persons a good dish to serve.Check out full recipe and try it out..

Ridge gourd /Beera kaya-1 medium size
Chanadal/senaga pappu -1/2 cup
Oil-1 table spoon
Cumin seeds-1 tea spoon
Mustard seeds
Curry leaves-few
Onion-1 small
Ginger garlic paste/GGP-1 tea spoon
Red chili powder-1 tea spoon/to taste
Turmeric powder-1/2 tea spoon
Salt-to taste
Tomato-1 small
Coriander powder-1 tea spoon
Coriander leaves-few
peel ridge gourd skin,cut into pieces.Wash and soak chanadal for 20 minutes.
Heat a pan with oil,throw cumin seeds,mustard seeds,curry leaves,crackle it.. Add in finely chopped onion,ginger garlic paste and saute for a while..Add in finely chopped ridge gourd pieces and mix well.Add soaked chanadal and mix again,cook it for a minute..Now add red chili powder,turmeric powder,salt,mix and cook for 2 minutes with a lid.Now add finely chopped tomato,mix and cook for 2-3 minutes.Now add coriander powder,coriander leaves,mix and cook for a minute finally.Turn off and serve hot with rice or chapathi..
