guggillu | talimpu senagalu recipe | spiced masala chickpeas | snacks recipes with senagalu

Senagala talimpu is nothing but spiced chickpeas fry in hot oil along with spices and powders. India celebrates lots of festivals and vratas. For each festival, we have particular recipes so this is one of the famous recipes which we prepare on Ganesh Chaturthi. Also, on varalakshmi vratam women do fasting, puja and then makes this spiced chickpeas to distribute everyone.
Talimpu is a Telugu word which means tadka. You can use black or brown chickpeas or evenKabulii chana. Replace red chilli, with green chilli and squeeze lemon juice before serving. Chickpeas are healthy which folded with proteins, vitamins, fibre and fewer carbohydrates. Try these simple tempering chickpeas recipe and enjoy.

Chickpeas / Brown chana-2 cups
Oil-2-3 tablespoon
Onion- 1 small size
Black pepper powder- 1 teaspoon
Salt-to taste
Turmeric powder-1/2 teaspoon
Coriander leaves-few
For Tadka/Talimpu
Mustard seeds-1 teaspoon
Cumin seeds-1 teaspoon
Hing/Asafoetida-1/4 teaspoon
Curry leaves-few
Dry red chilli-5
Chanadal-1 teaspoon
Uraddal-1 teaspoon
Wash and soak chickpeas overnight or 8 hours, then pressure cook for 12-15 minutes in low flame.
Now, heat a nonstick pan, add oil. When the oil is hot, add ingredients which mentioned under Tadka/Talimpu.
Fry for a minute in low flame and add finely chopped onions. Saute onions for  2 minutes in low flame and add in pressure cooked chana/chickpeas.
Add black pepper powder, salt, turmeric powder, mix gently, cook for 2-3 minutes and turn off. Add in finely chopped coriander leaves, mix everything and serve hot. Squeeze lemon juice before serving if you like.
