Shawarma is one of the common street food which is available in huge places on roadsides in my city. There are many Arabi restaurants in Foz with a variety of foods and this chicken shawarma is popular along with a few more famous dishes like Falafel, Esfiha etc.

Basically, Shawarma is a part of middle eastern cuisine but usually served in many parts of the world along with their own spices and style. In this video we give the recipe of Shawarma which is a street food in Pakistan and India, we prepare it totally in that street food style. For Filling Boneless Chicken – 200 gms Curd – 2 tablespoon (optional)
Ginger Garlic paste– 2 teaspoons
Red chili powder – 2 teaspoon
Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper powder – 1/2 teaspoon Cumin+coriander Powders – 1 teaspoon Lemon Juice or Vinegar – 1 tablespoon
Red or orange food colour – 1 teaspoon (optional) Salt to taste Oil for cooking- 3 tablespoons
For wrapping
Veg Mayonnaise-1/2 cup
Yoghurt 1/2 cup
French fries-few
Carrots sliced finely - 1 cup
Onions sliced finely -1/2 cup
Cabbage sliced finely - 1 cup
Bell pepper or Capsicum – 1 small
homemade chapati/ roti or storebought rotis or tortillas
For Chicken stuffing: In a bowl, add yogurt, ginger garlic paste, all the masala powders and mix. Add washed chicken, mix and marinate for 20-30 minutes. In frying pan, add oil and marinated chicken and cook until chicken is done. For Cheese Sauce: In a small bowl, take mayonnaise, add yoghurt and mix well. Keep this aside. To wrap shawarma I have used homemade chapati but you can use storebought rotis or tortillas or pão arabe.
Assembling: -Place the chapati on butter paper, add cooked chicken, yoghurt sauce add onion, cabbage, capsicum, carrot slices, put some french fries, squeeze lemon juice, wrap tightly in butter paper and serve hot.
